Visit The Ma & Pa Railroad Heritage Village in Muddy Creek Forks, PA on Home School Day, May TBD, 2017 from 10:00 AM to 2:30 PM. The day will consist of a structured program of activities for families with students from elementary age to high school.
Our Home School Day program will explore life in an early 20th century village and the railroad's role in the commercial, cultural, and personal lives of those who lived there. Families can choose to register in one of three groups that will approach these topics with slightly different emphases.
A maximum of 15 students can be accommodated in each group.
Remember children age 5 and under are welcome to accompany their families without charge. No ticket purchase is necessary for them.
For all three groups the program will include a brief introduction to the early history of southeastern York County from colonial times to the coming of the railroad, guided activities in the general store, the mill, and the grain elevator, a motorcar train ride through the Muddy Creek Valley with discussion of the service the railroad provided, and a time for free exploration when families can explore our exhibits and have individual discussions with our docents. Picnic tables are available on our site, and families should plan to bring picnic lunches.
Once on the ticket page, scroll down to Tuesday, May TBD, 2017 and select the group you want to be in. Remember, you may split your children between the groups, provided there is an adult with them.
